DescriptionA Medical Device Start-Up company, founded in 2005, has launched two product lines in 2008, has an immediate need for an experienced medical device Design Engineer focusing on mechanical, product design!
This position will offer the opportunity to join an entrepreneurial company, join the team in a leadership role leading groups and individuals in hands-on design of products for current R&D projects, as well as lead efforts in creating new medical device products for the future.
Senior Design Engineer
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead R&D teams in current product development to launch, new product design projects and new line extensions.
Develop designs for manufacturing including tolerance analyses, basic machine shop practices, including rapid prototype techniques to design realistic and available products, 3D software such as Solidworks Software to enhance designs
Develop and understand material properties and how to apply them in design
Create and layout all phases of new product development complete with tolerance study and functional requirements
Make complex designs and sketches. Perform most mechanical design functions on complete product or sub-assemblies
Develop complex design drafting assignments, initiate and suggest improvements
Liaison function with vendors, as necessary for interpretation of drawings
Continue to enhance engineering skills through training and educational programs
Must Haves:
BS Degree in Engineering, MS preferred
4+ years experience in designing of products focused on mechanics or mechanisms, with some years in medical device or FDA regulated design.
Start-Up experience is highly desired, ability to wear many hats, work with issues involving quality, manufacturing, product development, packaging, molding, stamping, etc.
Prefer: Multiple years of experience taking projects from cradle to grave as the Lead Design Engineer, having total responsibility for the design from concept to production, including variations of the product. i.e.: being responsible for the idea, the performance of the product as the lead, hands-on designer.
This Senior Design Engineer will take a lead role in taking products to launch, lead brand-new product design ideas for next generation products and lead line extension or improvements to current products in the pipeline.
Relocation will be provided if needed.
