Summary: Prepares cost estimates for projects, manufacturing of engineering products, or other projects or services requested to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists.
Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services.
Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Compiles list of type of materials or equipment requirements, utilizing knowledge of products to be manufactured, services to be performed, or type of structure to be built, using blueprints and specifications.
Itemizes tools, fixtures, or equipment to be manufactured by company or purchased from outside sources.
Computes cost estimates for materials, purchased equipment, subcontracted work, production activities and requirements, and labor.
Other duties as assigned.
Other Skills and Abilities: Must be able to effectively communicate with executives and managers in all departments. Must be Microsoft Office proficient. Experience working with Syteline or comparable manufacturing ERP system. Must have excellent written and oral communications skills.
Education and / or Experience: Bachelors degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university with 2 to 3 years manufacturing cost estimating experience required. Syteline experience preferred.
