We’re helping an exciting Start-Up in the Bay area turn an old fashion, outdated industry on its head! In a market that sold over $25B of food/products in 2016, all/most are producing the same mass-produced & generic products. We’re using technology, data and a huge focus on nutrition to deliver a more customizable and healthy solution/experience.  With dramatically different products that speak for themselves, and newly deployed customized systems and technologies design by some of the areas most talented cracker jack engineers, we are expecting a sizable disruption in the industry.  
This essential and strategic role will own everything related to PR. Candidates should be creative and articulate with a broad background and experience in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing and Creative Space. This role will be at the forefront of the company, driving the brand. The story pitches will be critical in growth of the company and brand, helping position the organization and disrupt the market. Using creativity, strategy and long term vision, the PR Director will work closely with company leadership and peer teams to spread the word on the brand and cause people to think.
As the first full time PR hire, the selected candidate will have the autonomy and support to build and drive the vision that will define our image to the public!  Along with a strong base salary and bonus, employees receive equity in the company (as a percentage – tied to company growth and performance). The primary responsibilities are the following; however include other non-public relations tasks and projects as well (after all this is a startup)
  • Own all aspects of PR, including product, corporate, and executive brand as seen through earned media
  • Create and execute consistent national and regional PR plans building positive awareness and serve as the cornerstone of the earned media identity
  • Work with marketing teams to develop integrated product launch plans
  • Build agency relationship to achieve top-tier media placements
  • Integrate PR and social to cross market a strong company point-of-view
  • Develop a PR pipeline of news announcements and media pitches
  • Communicate and coordinate launches and corporate news announcements
  • Build and maintain asset archives
  • Stay current on emerging public relations and industry trends
Suggested Experience
  • 8+  years of relevant experience in public relations (with a focus on consumer products)
  • Extensive experience designing and executing successful public relations campaigns
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strategic thinking skills and the ability to deliver against business objectives
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent research skills and resourceful approach
  • Self-motivated with the ability to bring definition to whitespace
